Semester 1 Events
The first semester this year has been a whirlwind featuring a variety of ArtSoc events. Here we will summarise the highlights!
Life Drawings
You know and love our weekly life drawings, which are always popular especially some of the special ones seen this semester such as Halloween, Christmas and Live Music life drawings. Stay tuned for next semesters life drawings! Why not sign up to be a life model for next semester.
Start of the semester
Near the beginning of this semester we had multiple fun events, including: Nature study workshop at the Botanical Gardens, Collage-making workshop collab with SHAG week and Home decoration making workshop collab with CASH.
Lino Cut Workshop
This workshop is always a favourite, at Beacon bar we provided all the lino materials and everyone started carving the lino with wonderful designs ranging from landscapes to animals. Then comes the printing with different coloured paints, whilst a bit messy this workshop is always so fun and creates really interesting artwork. The great thing about lino is that you can reuse the lino stencil over and over again.
‘Changing Seasons’ exhibition
This semester’s Martinmas exhibition had the theme of ‘changing seasons’ and included a variety of amazing artwork and was a great exhibition organised by our lovely exhibition coordinators. For more info click here as this has its own blog post and gallery page.
Live Fashion Sketching
At Lupos we collaborated with CatWalk Fashion Show for a fashion sketching and drinks session, this had a great vibe and was really fun with models circulating through the room giving everyone a chance to do life drawing with a unique twist.
Aquarium Life Drawing
An exciting collaboration with the Marine Society allowed us to have a life drawing session at St Andrews Aquarium. First we were given a tour and guided round the aquarium which was interesting and lovely to see all the cool animals including sharks and meerkats! Afterwards we roamed the aquarium sketching anything that took our fancy. The results were great and seen below!
Upcycling Workshop
This event at Beacon bar, we collaborated with sustainable style for a workshop where pre-loved clothes were painted, decorated and adapted to give them a new style!
Wardlaw events
We had two workshops: map-making and paper solar system workshops at the Wardlaw Museum. These were a great chance to create some fun art with the Wardlaw Museum! The Wardlaw exhibitions are a worth-while visit and for more info on the events check out their website.

Christmas Dinner
To finish of the semester strong, ArtSoc (our lovely events coordinator) organised a Christmas Dinner at Lupos, the vibes and food were great and it was the perfect festive activity to wind down and end this semester on.
