  • We run regular one-off workshops incorporating a range of media and themes.

    Workshops may be led by our members and/or in collaboration with other university societies, local artists, and businesses.

Creative Retreat

Creative Retreat is a highlight for us here at Art Soc, and this one is on track to be bigger and better than ever! Join us for 3 nights in the Scottish Borders, from the 8th-11th May. Finish off your year with a relaxing and arty trip, filled with painting, drawing, exploring, writing - and so much more. This will be the creative culmination of the year, a time to finally work on your passion projects, and to make new ones. A chance to connect with old friends and meet new people. This is not to be missed!

Drag and Draw!

To celebrate Queerfest, Art Soc and Saints LGBT+ present ‘Drag and Draw’. Our models this week will be two student drag artists, Chilly Baltic & Blue Monday, who will begin each of their modelling sessions with a performance !

Tues 2nd April. School 6 in Sallies Quad. 7-9pm.

£4 for members.
£6 for non-members.

Botanical Study with Greenpeace

Whether you are a member of Greenpeace or Art Soc, or just a St Andrews Student interested in a outdoor creative workshop, join us this Sunday the 24th March, from 12-2pm, we will be visiting the Botanic Garden for a nature study workshop! Please bring your own sketchbooks and supplies, but we will provide some drawing materials. This will be a free event.

You can look forward to artistic guidance, insights into environmental preservation, and opportunities to connect with fellow art and nature enthusiasts. There will be opportunity to make leaf rubbings, undertake flower studies, enjoy birdwatching and more!

We will meet at the entrance to the Botanic Garden on the day before venturing around the site. We can’t wait to see you there !

Picture Frame Decorating Workshop

Join Art Soc for an exciting picture frame decorating workshop at Beacon Bar on Thursday 21st March from 2:30-4:30pm. Let your creativity run wild in this crafty session, where we will be providing all sorts of supplies to make your picture frame your own.

£3 for members, and £6 for non-members.

All supplies will then be provided for you to make your perfect frame to take home with you.

Our AGM will provide a chance to meet the current committee and vote on next year’s team. All members may run and vote. If you would like to run for a position, please let us know via this form so we know what to expect on the day!

  • Website Coordinator

    Prepare a speech for whatever role you are running for. Or wing it. But it’s your job to convince us that you’re the best one for the job! Speeches are 1 minute for every role except Co-President, which is 2 minutes. Voting and results will be counted and announced in the moment.

Join us in week 6 for an extra special one - Art Soc x Szentek ! That’s right, your favourite life drawing collab is back and better than ever.

Tues 20th February in School 6 in Sallies Quad, from 7-9pm.

Specimen Study Workshop

Join us for an afternoon of observational drawing in the university’s Bell Pettigrew Natural History Museum!

This workshop offers a chance to focus on unique and exciting subjects in the museums collection. Since 1912, the museum has displayed fossils and skeletons, taxidermy, and spirit collections, and is organised taxonomically, taking visitors on a journey through the animal kingdom.

How can I find the Bell Pettigrew Museum, located in the Bute Medical Building?
You can access the building through St Mary's Quad from South Street or from Queen's Terrace.
The entrance is through Door C.
