Event Review: Jewellry Making Workshop
ArtSoc held its first in-person event last Monday in the new Can-Do Marquee. Holding a workshop under Covid restrictions was a bit of an adjustment, but the event went pretty smoothly. Our biggest challenge was that the University gave us a different room at the last minute, meaning we couldn’t display our presentation. This was frustrating, but everyone seemed happy just to be back together making art.
Individuals had to sit 2m apart, unless they were from the same household. For those sitting alone, we provided a playlist that they could listen to with headphones. This was one way ArtSoc attempted to retain the usual atmosphere of its workshops.
We provided various supplies, such as polymer clay, beads, and Shrinky Dinks. We also encouraged people to bring items from home to upcycle. Attendees left will all kinds of unique pieces, ranging from polymer clay keychains to origami earrings. To put it candidly, by focusing not on what we can’t do, and more on what we can, anything can be achieved in the Can-Do Marquee (with a can-do attitude).
