Studio Visit with Amelie Platon

We met with enthusiastic Art Soc member and life-drawing regular, Amelie Platon, to discuss her art in the run up to her feature in our current exhibition!

This is Art Soc, is already under way at Taste with weekly updates to the lineup of Artist Highlights and Lost and Found.

Amelie is a 4th year Art History and Philosophy student from France. While studying at St Andrews her studies have informed her interests in surrealism and the representation of women in the movement. This influence is clear in her playful oil paintings which focus on exaggerated features with vibrant colour palettes. Amelie is drawn to images which have interesting or challenging perspectives or proportions such as in this work in progress.

A self taught oil painter, Amelie has been creating art at home since she was at school, and more recently in her student flat as she is applying to art schools with a view to making her art her career. Her evident talent is not restricted to painting as she is creative in all areas of life and enjoys other crafts such as crochet.

We look forward to seeing her paintings up in Taste in the coming weeks of our exhibition and wish her luck in all her future creative endeavours. Check out Amelie’s portfolio here.
